Leather Weather: Where to get this season’s most popular jacket style!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! One thing I love about Thanksgiving is that as soon as its over, my family starts decorating our house and tree for Christmas, which reminds me that there is colder weather ahead! One of the trickiest things about living in the Bay Area (San Francisco) is that we have cold weather but nothing compared to freezing temperatures and snow. This means that you have to find an awkward medium of dressing warm but not going crazy with the ski jackets and snow boots. So, for anyone who deals with cold weather this winter, a sturdy jacket is a necessity! Leather jackets have always been popular but have always had an association with riding a motorcycle or being tough. However, anyone who’s worn a leather jacket knows that nothing can make you feel as confident as rocking a stylish leather jacket. Now, so many stores are coming out with cute but trendy leather jackets that are changing the dynamic of this old time style. While these jackets may make you feel like a T-Bird from Grease, they will make you look as flawless and confident as a Pink Lady. Some great stores to check out if you LOVE this style is Topshop, Forever 21, Anthropologie, Zara, and Lulus.

Fall’17 Biggest Trend!: Embroidered Ankle Boots

Every year comes with new trends, and this year sure has a host of them. When I was younger, I used to wonder what would be iconic outfits to our decade, just as there are staples to the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, and many others. Even though I’m not sure if this trend will be making the history books, it definitely blown up this fall as most stores carry these types of boots. They are so fun because they can make any outfit colorful and are nothing like the boots most of us are used to wearing. So, after seeing these boots pop up all over social media and Pinterest, I knew I had to check them out. After doing some research, I learned that almost every store I went to carried boots that were similar to each other. Whether they were knock offs or high-end brands, I personally thought that you couldn’t even tell the difference, which is another great thing about these shoes! I was able to round-up some of my favorites with the help of Shop Style Collective, and have provided all of the links down below. Make sure you check them out if you are interested, all of them are great shoes and come in a variety of price ranges so anyone can steal this look! These embroidered calf boots are sure to turn heads! I made a picture collage down below for some inspiration, along with a list of stores on where to buy these and the exact links to these boots in the Shop Style Collective widget at the bottom!

Unique Hairstyles to Spice up Fall

Fall is in full swing almost everywhere, with the exception of California. With a few cold days here and there, California weather is still set to summer. Regardless, we are still shopping for fall essentials and prepping for winter, while enjoying our last couple of sunny days. With clothes the main focus of wardrobe and style necessities for fall, I realized that rarely do people ever talk about the change in hairstyles based on the season. We all change up our hair depending on the weather and season, so today I have brought you some great new looks to spice up your fall wardrobe. These are perfect for just everyday or even Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is usually classified into the “holiday season,” which I love, but I find that there is a big difference in Thanksgiving and Christmas style. So for the next couple of posts, I will be focusing on and highlighting the unique style that shines through during the season of giving thanks. Not to mention we have to squeeze in our last couple of weeks of fall colors before shifting over to darker hues. Scroll down for inspiration picks and hairstyle tips!

Fall Hair Trends and Tips:

  • Bandanas!: Bandanas were everywhere over the summer, but just because its fall, doesn’t mean you have to put them away! I loved wearing bandanas to hold my hair back in the summer heat, but by buying bandanas and scarfs with warmer tones and fall patterns, they can be easily wrapped around a bun, ponytail, or used as a headband through fall.
  • Braids: Braids are nothing new and I’m not one to do really complicated looking braids on a daily basis or even when I’m not attending a nice event. I like simple and effortless hairstyles that have a little something unique to them. So when I saw the photos of just simple differences in the way people pulled their hair back into a braid, I knew I had to try it. Another tip is to get inspired from the 70’s and do two small braids on each side.
  • Flips: I always have loved flipping my hair into a quick little bun, but I never realized that simply parting my hair in the middle and smoothing the sides down, I could transform the hairstyle into something that looked more formal.

I hope you guys enjoyed that post and that it inspired you to get creative with your hair for fall!

Fall Trends & Essentials

Hey guys! Sorry its been such a long time since my last post, senior year is one of the busiest years of high school yet! Regardless, fall is upon us and I wanted to share my perspective on the upcoming fall trends and essentials before we are in the fully in the middle of the season. I live in California and it hasn’t gotten cold here yet, but I know some places are starting to get cooler weather every day. I worked with Shop Style Collective again, to bring you all of the best places to purchase the trends and essentials I will talk about!

Fall Trends:

  • Burgundy booties= I have seen these all over Pinterest and I’m sure they will be a great statement piece for fall!
  • Sophisticated watches= When I think of fall, one of the things I think of is sophisticated style. What’s a better way to say goodbye to summer and hello to workdays and school days, than getting a watch that will keep you on time and stylish. Down below in the widget links through Shop Style Collective, you guys can see one of my favorite watch brands call Olivia Burton. They have some of the most unique but mature watches at a reasonable price.
  • Layering= Although this is something most people already do just for warmth, layering for style is something that I wouldn’t be surprised by this fall and winter. Purposefully trying to show different fabric materials and patterns is one of my favorite looks! One thing I’m super excited to try is a turtleneck or long sleeve under a slip dress.
  • Low buns= High messy buns are still one of my favorite hairstyles, but a low and simple bun looks very sleek and effortless.
  • Turtle necks= I have always loved turtle necks and they are one of those fall and winter looks that never goes out of style.
  • Neutral totes= Neutral is obviously great because it goes with anything, especially with darker and lighter fall colors such as black, burgundy, and grey, or beige, white, and tan.
  • Fall hats= I have never worn a fall hat but I love summer hats and have been actively looking for a cute wool hat. Fall is a great time to wear them because it’s not winter yet.
  • Orange coats= Orange is so colorful and works for almost any season during the year. Fall can sometimes be sad because it has a less colorful color scheme. Who says color can’t be incorporated into fall? If you are looking for a pop of color or fun, some good colors that would still work for fall would be hints of yellow, light pink, orange, light blue, lavender, and magenta.
  • Tortoise shell sunglasses= These are great for anytime of the year but especially for fall because the tortoise shell goes so easily with anything and everything.
  • Over the knee boots= I have always wanted a pair of these and I finally found a pair that I loved. Personally, I like the black the best but any color is super cute and perfect for fall. I know these were big last year but they are still super stylish!

How To Stack Jewelry

Hey guys! I’ve been noticing a lot of jewelry pictures on Pinterest lately, and thought it was a perfect opportunity to do another post dedicated to jewelry. A lot of times my friends will tell me that my set of bracelets look really good together. It got me thinking what the best tips and strategies helped in deciding how jewelry should be stacked and layered so that it didn’t look clustered and knotted, and so that it still showcases each individual piece.

  • Mix silver and gold. The silver next to the gold create a nice contrast that brightens each bracelet or necklace.
  • Specifically for necklaces, I think the best piece of advice would be to stack statement pieces with larger necklaces, and smaller necklaces with small necklaces. Stacking a small necklace with a large necklace will only make the small get tangled and lost.
  • Throw in a watch. It’s not only practical but also mixes up the tones of the bracelet stack.
  • Create different sizes. Unless they are bangles, stacking the same bracelet in different colors doesn’t really create shape difference or compliment each other nicely.

I know this post was on the shorter version but I hope it was helpful and fun to read!!

Travel Guide: Croatia

Hey guys! Sorry I haven’t posted in a while, I just finished a week of college visits and then my first week of school. Before school started, my family and I left Michigan and went on an unforgettable trip to Croatia. I had never heard of anyone vacationing in Croatia before, but it is definitely a place I would visit again and recommend for friends. It had amazing towns, good shopping, great weather, gorgeous beaches, amazing seafood, and some of the nicest people you will ever meet. The way I described it to my friends would be that it feels like Italy, has beaches like Greece, and then has a culture that feels very Mediterranean and Slavic. So, with out further ado, please enjoy my travel tips and photo collage down below. I was making sure that I took pictures throughout the whole trip so hopefully I did this beautiful place justice.

  • Places to Visit: 3 must go places would be Dubrovnik, Hvar, and Split.
  • Old Town Dubrovnik: The old town in Dubrovnik gets really hot during the day so it’s smarter to go closer to the evening. It is without a doubt one of the coolest places I’ve been, you literally feel like you’re being transported back in time. If you have a chance, their is one of the oldest pharmacies in Europe, in the old town of Dubrovnik.
  • Hvar: Hvar is an island off the coast of Croatia but is one of the most popular places to visit. You can even go into shops that Beyonce has shopped at, which for me was very exciting.
  • Coral and Pearls: Coral is sold everywhere in Croatia but can easily be very overpriced. If you see it for cheap, get it! You most likely won’t see very many sellers selling them for cheap. Also, from what the jewelers told us, most of the pearls and coral sold on the street is real. Which is crazy because that would be so expensive in America. I could just be very gullible, but the quality of the material was amazing as well! Pink coral is also more expensive than red or orange because it is harder to dive for, so if you see it being sold for a good price, it would make a great gift!
  • Weather: I strongly suggest staying in a hotel or apartment close to a beach or that has a pool. It was so hot just sitting outside under an umbrella that going in for a dip was both fun and necessary.
  • Beaches: The water in Croatia is some of the prettiest blue and clear water I have ever seen. Most hotels will have a private beach but you could also go to a public beach as well. Also, keep an eye out for giant floats in the water that kind of look like an episode of Wipe Out. We went on these twice and paid for 30 minutes of float time. It was so much fun to go down these giant slides and was definitely worth it and memorable.
  • Food: Most of the food will be similar to Italian such as, pizza and pasta. But majority of the food was seafood because of Croatia’a location next to the Mediterranean. Depending on the restaurant, the seafood was amazing! I would suggest trying the oysters, clams, calamari, and risotto.

I hope you guys enjoyed that, even if you aren’t traveling to Croatia any time soon. I also hope that you all have a wonderful summer and a great back to school!
